Celtic mythology connects the wolf with the moon. Legend has it that the wolf would chase the sun down each day, catching and devouring it at dusk. Thus, allowing the moon to rise at night. The wolf ruled over winter, from Halloween to February (in Celtic tradition). A wolf was the companion of the goddess Cerridwen (the goddess of the moon and fertility).
